Thomas Malone's Obituary, 5 March 1928: Thomas Malone, a venerable Civil War veteran, died on Sunday (3/4) about 5 p.m. at the home of his niece, Mrs. Cecelia McGeady, 435 Heckewalder Place, aged 84, 5 months and 13 days. Death was doe to old age. Mr. Malone was born in Ireland on September 14, 1843, a son of Daniel and Catherine (nee McCue) Malone. He came to this country when a youth, and for many years was employed by the old Bethlehem Iron Company, now the Bethlehem Steel Company. He enlisted as a private for the Civil War in Company C, 129th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry, on August 5, 1862, for a term of nine months. After being mustered out of service at Harrisburg on May 18, 1863, he reenlisted on December 16, 1863, at Philadelphia in Company G, 112th Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery for three years. He was discharged on January 29, 1866. He is a member of SS Simon and Jude Church, and of Robert Oldham Post, NO. 527, G.A.R. He resided mostly on the South Side. There survive two nieces and four nephews, his wife have preceded in death a number of years ago. The funeral will take place on Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock from the residence of Mrs. McGeady and proceed to the SS Simon and Jude Church where mass will be celebrated at 9:30 o’clock. Interment will be made in the family plot in St. Michael’s Cemetery.  Obituary sent by a descendant.
