08WalkwayGrass The central landmark at the Francis E. Walter Dam is the 200' tall Control Tower. The Tower has 5 landings, from the 5th landing at the walkway on top of the dam at elevation 1,474 feet to the 1st landing located 30 feet below the normal water level of 1,300 feet. The top level is home to the control room and electrical supply. Level 4 houses a furnace. Level 3 is storage. Level 2 contains hydraulic controls. Level 1 is the location of the gates.
