Meat Rally to Claim LEAF TitleDecember 24, 2001
The Ravens defense came through in a big way for Grandpa's Meat in Week 17... and as a result, Steve soared past Troy, and not only won the week, but claimed the season title as well. With a LEAF Bowl III title under his belt from the previous week, that makes Grandpa's Meat the undisputed champion for the 2001 season. Congratulations!
Of course, we take nothing away from Troy's fine season, as he was the only contender for the title besides Steve in the closing weeks; and were it not for some outstanding performances by Steve's legion of goons, Troy would have easily claimed that top prize. The battle for third and fourth place - the remaining two money spots - was up for grabs with four teams eligible to win, and it was Keith, thanks to a second place finish for the week, who jumped into third, followed by Eric K., who had a fairly strong week to capture fourth. He was aided by dismal weeks from Tom and Dave, who fell out of the money and will have to wait until next year to contend for a prize.
In the battle for seventh place, Todd narrowly slipped past Bruce, who were tied after Week 16, and beat him by one point. Rick had a fairly strong week to hold on to ninth place, and to keep Mike in check at 10th place. Eric S. struggled into an 11th place finish, while Terry closed out the season with one of the worst weeks by anyone this year, finishing in last.
It was a fun and exciting season, and a big thanks to everyone who kept the Message Board lively and entertaining. We hope to keep it alive and well next season!
Kurt Warner was this year's MVP. Congratulations, Troy!
Here is the prize money breakdown (please remember, that this is unofficial and subject to change.)
1. Steve - $348.50
2. Troy - $243.95
3. Keith - $69.70
4. Eric K. - $34.85
Have a great year!
