Has McNabb Locked Up MVP Honors?

Having the top fantasy scoring player in the league on your team might not lock you into a championship... but it certainly helps. The first tabluation of the MVP numbes was announced Saturday, prior to week 4, and it looks like Grandpas Meat QB Donovan McNabb is the early front-runner. With 14 more weeks of games to play, this list could still change.

Here are the top 10 LEAF players through Week 3:

1. Donovan McNabb (Steve) - 100; 2. Priest Holmes (Rick) - 85; 3. Aaron Brooks (Rick) - 80; 4. Brett Favre (Dave) - 78; 5. Daunte Culpepper (Tom) - 74; 6. Ricky Williams (Eric S.) - 71; 7. Michael Vick (Eric K.) - 67; 8. Peyton Manning (Keith) - 65; 9. Lamar Smith (Mike) - 61; 10. Brian Griese (Mike) - 58.

What's even more interesting about this list is who's not named on it. Perennial MVP contenders Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk are nowhere to be found, and will have to play some serious catch-up if they want to break the top 10 and take a shot at the 5% of the pot that the owner of the League MVP will take home.

Also interesting to note is that, despite his strong play, Tom Brady is nowhere near this list. After three weeks, Brady has scored enough points to earn the distinction of being the league's second highest league scorer (91 points), but he continues to ride the pine on the one team in our league that he is not the better option. Yes, only Steve's team would not benefit from starting Brady on a weekly basis, making it even more curious that he has not been receiving more serious offers to acquire the Super Bowl MVP.

When you consider that, of the top 15 scoring QBs so far, 7 of them are riding the bench, that indicates that a few of you guys are starting some pretty dismal players.

Well, that's all for now. If you are interested in seeing how everyone at each position is shaping up, the MVP list on the league website is updated. Visit - http://home.ptd.net/~buzznbea/LEAF/LEAFMVPlist.html
