Hannah Elizabeth's Arrival
by Hannah Elizabeth Reitz
(as told to Daddy)

My name is Hannah Elizabeth Reitz. I was born on March 23, 2001, at 11:20 a.m. at The Women and Babies Hospital in Lancaster. I weighed 7 lbs., 4 ounces, and measured in at a lengthy 20 1/2 inches! If you look closely, you'll notice that my initials spell "H.E.R."

Since I haven't quite mastered the use of the computer just yet, I have enlisted the help of my Daddy to create my web page. I hope to do many fun and interesting things, and recount them here on this page for my grandmas and grandpas, aunts, and other friends and relatives. Since Daddy keeps taking pictures of me with his camera, I imagine that there will be plenty of photos appearing here from time to time.

I have been told that I was born on the day Mommy and Daddy started dating back in 1990. I'm glad that I picked such a special day to arrive. They were married on March 26, 1994, because it was the closest Saturday they could get to that date. They also tell everyone that Mommy went into labor at 12:15 a.m., fifteen minutes after they finished watching some movie called "She's Having a Baby." That was just another way I tried to make my grand entrance a little more special. I guess I'm going to hear that story for the rest of my life, huh?

When I arrived, everyone kept telling me how pretty I was, and also how I had so much hair on my head! The nurses were very nice to me, Mommy and Daddy at the hospital, and I tried to be very good for them. When all of the other babies were crying, I just ignored them and slept right through it! And boy, did we eat well. Mommy kept eating crab cakes, and commenting on how wonderful the food was, while I dined on a cuisine that was primarily milk-based. Hee hee. We also had a lot of visitors during our three days at the hospital, and I enjoyed meeting people who are going to be an important part of my life, including Grandma and Grandpa Wike, Grandma and Grandpa Reitz, and my aunts Jamie and Angela. I also met my Great Grandmas, and I was told that I will soon meet my Great Great Grandma Mueller. Wow, what a great family I must have!

We came home on March 25, and Mommy was greeted with a banner proclaiming "It's a Girl" (which she and Daddy have known for quite some time.) There was a pretty arrangement of balloons and stuffed animals waiting there to welcome me and Mommy. It made the room look very nice. Daddy and Grandpa Reitz went out and put the display together. I was soon taken to my room, which was painted a nice pink color by Daddy and Grandpa (who were both very happy that I was a girl, or else they were going to have to do a bit of repainting.) The room has a lot of nice new furniture, and Classic Winnie-the-Pooh decorations and a really neat original painting of a rabbit by a lady that Mommy used to work with. Mommy and Daddy said that rabbit will watch over me even after I grow too big for a nursery.

Mommy and Daddy stayed home with me for the first week I was here, but they said that Daddy had to start going some place called work. Mommy is still staying at home with me, but she is also going to a different place called work later on. They have been reading books to me, and they tell me that I have been a very good baby. Boy, do they look tired, though!

I had my very first doctor's appointment on March 30, the day after I was "due" to arrive. I got a clean bill of health, and that made Mommy and Daddy very happy.

I am looking forward to adding to this page as I grow up, so I hope that you will keep checking it from time to time to find out my latest adventures!

Daddy has been collecting e-mail messages of congratulations, and is putting them on paper to place in my baby book along with other cards I have received. If you would like to add a message to the collection, you can e-mail him at buzznbea@ptd.net. He also plans to post those messages here at a later date.

Well, that's it for now. Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy a few of these photos that were taken during the first week of my life!

Hugs and Kisses,
Hannah Elizabeth

P.S. Below is an early "photo" of me, when I was still in Mommy's tummy. I think I was giving Mommy and Daddy the thumb's up, to let them know I was OK!
