On Sunday morning, September 22, we left for Myrtle Beach, S.C.  We arrived at the Holiday Inn Airport Motel in Sandston, Virginia where we checked in and had dinner.   We stayed here overnight and after breakfast on Monday morning we checked out and departed for Myrtle Beach.

We arrived at the Swamp Fox Motel late in the afternoon and later that same evening we had dinner at Mary Juel's Restaurant after which we departed for a fabulous show at the Carolina Opry.

On Tuesday we had breakfast at the Swamp Fox Motel and later that morning we departed for the Broadway at the Beach which was a new complex featuring shopping and dining and entertainment.  We spent a few hours visiting the quaint shops after which we returned to our motel and spent the afternoon at our leisure.

We spent the afternoon swimming in the ocean and later relaxing on innertubes while drifting on the Lazy River, which circulated around the area of our motel.

Around five in the evening we boarded the bus and went for dinner at the Good Times Restaurant after which we departed for a spectacular performance at Magic on Ice..featuring Snoopy.

On Wednesday, we arose early and had breakfast before taking off on a historic tour of Charleston, S.C. While there we were taken through the historic Citadel.  It is a beautiful military school and the buildings were as white as snow and the courtyard with its tiled floor was a sight to behold.

We continued on to see some of the most beautiful homes dating back to the 18th century, all reminiscent of the Old South.  We also had a good view of Fort Sumter from our vantage point in Charleston.

We left that same afternoon to go back to our motel where we had dinner at the Swamp Fox, after which we again boarded the bus  which took us to the Alabama Theater for another fantastic show and evening of entertainment called The American Pride Show.

On Thursday we spent some time shopping at the Village of Barefoot Landing before returning to our motel to get ready to go to the Dixie Stampede which, to me, was an unbelievable evening of good food and entertainment.  The food was out of this world and everyone ate with their fingers and drank soup right from the bowls.  Later, when we were done eating, the waiters brought us hot towels to wash our hands and face.  Needless to say, the food was really what you call "finger-licking good".  The entire time we were eating, we were also enjoying an evening of live entertainment featuring horse-back riders, singers, and yes, even a pig race.

On Friday, which came all too soon, we had our last breakfast at the Swamp Fox, after which we checked out to depart for Sandston, Va. where we stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Airport Motel and enjoyed dinner before being taken on a tour of historic Richmond, Va.

On Saturday morning, we arose early and had breakfast, followed by check-out after which we boarded the bus and departed for home.

This was the end of another great trip I made with the Ashland Order of the Eastern Star.
