excerpt from his Obituary notice
Passing of Alex Baxter
Alexander A. Baxter, aged 84 years, died Monday afternoon, April 1, 1929, at about three o'clock at his home in West Main Street. Mr. Baxter had been in feeble health for many months. About a week ago he caught a severe cold. On Monday he was apparently feeling better, and after dinner thought he would set up in a chair. After sitting for about five minutes he asked to be returned to the bed, which request was granted. He had hardly been placed in bed before he expired. His wife, the late Mary Dwyer, preceded him in death ten months ago.
He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Lois Bloodgood of Mexico and Mrs. Edward Fellers of Syracuse, two brothers, Peter Baxter of Royal Oaks, Michigan, and William Baxter of this village: three sisters, Mrs. Mary Fetcha of Plummer, Idaho: Mrs. Frank LaRobardiere of Colosse, and Miss Diana Baxter of Mexico; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Last rites will be held from his late home this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Jesse Rathbun officiating. Interment will be in Mexico village cemetery. |
