born March 20, 1853

died August 17, 1913

george's obituary

George was the ninth child born to Seymour and Dianh Baxter. He remained a bachelor all his life and worked on the family farm.
The hard work of a farmer's life is recorded by Lena in her diaries. George and Will together worked the many chores: cutting and chopping wood, planting and harvesting feed for their animals. Their brother Alex and his wife Mary, who lived nearby, often helped them. Lena and Diana worked in the garden, prepared meals, wove cloth and sewed their clothes.
When George died in 1913, the three remaining siblings living on the farm were devasted. As Lena wrote a few days after George's burial:
"No rain yet. Tarable hot. I did wash. Mary and Diana don up the work. Will and Alex drawd in 3 wood load. Oh it seems so lonely withut poor George. How we do miss him."
Even a year later, Lena writes how much they miss George.
