Studebaker History
This section of the site is dedicated to a breif history of the Studebaker Corporation. Studebaker started their company near the turn of the century making wagons, and then progressed to making cars. Their end came in 1966, two years after moving their production to Canada from South Bend Indiana. The cars listed blow are models from the years 1964 to 1966. Here you will find some comparison and breif information about each series of Studebakers.
In 1964, Studebaker offered other models, such as the Hawk and the Avanti. The original name of the "common sense" cars were Larks and they had variations on the lark called the Daytona and Commander, but in 1965, Studebaker dropped the "Lark" name, along with the two door "Challenger".
Studebaker made 4 models of their 64 through 66 line up of standard cars, not including the Hawk, which was dropped in '64, or the Avanti.

Below are some of the main differences of trim levels for each year Studebaker made their "Lark" based cars.
1964

The Lark 6, also named the Challenger, had a single head light
grille package available along with the double head lights. A convertable was
offered in 1964. The rear end had a metal strip trimming that had "Studebaker"
across it between the rear lights.
____
1965

The 1965 series dropped the Lark name, and eliminated the convertable. The metal trim on the trunk lid was also eliminated for 1965.
__

1966

The 1966 lineup featured a completely re-designed grille, interior upgrades, more safety features and the rear end had a different look. The tunk carried over from 1965, however, the tail lights were re-designed and where the brake lights were in previous years became flow through ventilation extractor vents, and the reverse lights were moved below the tail lights. The steel strip was brought back and placed between the new location of the reverse lights. 1966 was the last year Studebaker would produce these cars.
