This is not like anything you will ever find in Mexico. You'll also never find it in a house that prides itself on "quality, healthy food." However, you'll seldom find leftovers in any house that does make it.
I listen to the clucking tongues as it is presented to the adults at picnics and parties, watch the heads shaken in disbelief as the ingredients are disclosed, listen to the protests that they "could not possibly eat something like that". Then, after it is completely devoured, I quietly pick up the empty container and hand out this web address to those who clamor for the recipe.
That's not to say that you shouldn't have a sizeable party, with a fair number of kids (and a few fat old men) to spread it around - but that's my only concession to good sense and healthy lifestyles
Layer Number 1 (Bottom)
Crush one entire 19 oz package of Oreo cookies
(Single, not double stuff - and don't 'taste' any! )
(Reserve 1/2 cup of the crushed cookies for later)
Mix the rest with 1/2 cup melted margarine or butter.
Press mixture into bottom of a 9x13 pan just like you were making a graham cracker crust.Layer Number 2
Mix together 8oz cream cheese (room temperature) & 1 cup powdered sugar.
Fold in 1 regular size tub of Cool Whip. (Does this make 'lite' cream cheese?)
Spread cream cheese mixture evenly atop the cookie crust layer.Layer Number 3
Make up 1 LARGE choc. instant pudding mix according to the recipe on the box.
Spread this on cream cheese layer.Layer Number 4
On top of pudding, spread 1 more tub of Cool Whip.Does this count as Layer Number 5?
Sprinkle with the 1/2 cup of Oreo crumbs that were set aside earlier.Refrigerate!!!
For those of you who are still reading, I don't need to tell you how rich this is.
It becomes fairly solid after being refrigerated for a few hours so you'll need a stiff spatula to cut and scoop individual servings. Don't even attempt to be neat about it - only pigs would eat this stuff any way, right?
A two inch square of this concoction is enough for anyone... except kids, young people, middle aged people and old folks... who might just come back for more!
