Love to Sing?

The Pleasant Valley Choral Society is an adult community chorus with its home base in Brodheadsville, PA.  The chorus currently has about 40 members and is actively seeking new members.  The PVCS, under the musical direction of Ms. Dorothy Mohr, has 2 formal concerts each year which are performed at the Pleasant Valley High School Auditorium. Sounds of the Season, which is traditionally performed the second full weekend in December; and Spring Pops, which is performed near the end of April.

For the holiday season the repertoire of the Chorus includes traditional sacred and secular Christmas music as well as lesser known but equally uplifting seasonal music .

The Spring Pops concerts are a mix of well known tunes ranging from spiritual and patriotic songs to Broadway, popular and rock'n'roll all performed with lively enthusiasm by soloists, a small ensemble and the Choral Society.  The music is always selected to try to find something to please each generation represented in the audience from the 20's to today.

The members have always prided themselves on performing with enthusiasm and good humor.  This is accomplished by rehearsing every Friday evening at 7:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.  Rehearsals begin the Friday after Labor Day for the Christmas Concert and the Friday after New Year's Day for the Spring Concert in April.  All the work pays off when the audience responds to a performance with equal good humor and enthusiasm.

If you have a pleasant voice, enjoy singing and can match musical pitches, please consider joining this fun group. (The ability to read music is a plus, not a necessity.)  Come join us!
