In Memory of Janet L. Serfass
In October 2015, our chorus lost a valuable member and good friend, Janet Serfass. Janet first added her voice to this merry group of singers in the spring of 1991, and over the years she served on the Board of Directors as President, Vice President, and Secretary.  In more recent years, she acted as our liaison with the school district and took on the task of organizing our very extensive music library, putting together packets for each member, and making sure that all music was returned. She spent many hours in my attic sorting and filing - and trying to convince me to let go of old numbers that she was sure we would never do again because she was afraid that putting one more file cabinet in the attic would cause her to end up in the garage some day!  She also managed our ticket sales, making sure that everyone had enough tickets for their patrons, collecting the revenue, and hounding those who were forgetful about handing in tickets or music. She was a sounding board for me and kept everything on track as we got close to concert time - even now, as I sit writing this, I can hear her voice saying, "Did you finish the program yet?  You have to get it to the printer!" And, at the beginning of the season, it was Janet who kept after me when I was working on rehearsal tapes - she was really good at making me feel guilty when I was dragging my feet!  More importantly, she was a true friend, as she was to many in her varied activities throughout our community. While we will miss her voice, her inspirational pre-concert words and prayers, and her antics with Koko at Christmastime, we know that she will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved her.  And, so it is with hearts heavy and light that we dedicate this concert to her memory. We were blessed to have been a part of her life and to have shared her love of music, and we know with certainty that she is now using that love to keep the angel choir in line. And so, our dear friend - we're singing these songs for you!
