2009 ARRL DX Phone from VP9I
On 7-8 March 2009, K3PH and I operated the ARRL DX Phone contest from the QTH of Ed Kelly, VP9GE. Ed has an oustanding location on the North Shore of Bermuda in Hamilton Parish (not
Hamilton city, which is in Pembroke Parish -- very confusing).
The antennas consist of a 160-meter inverted L, a G5RV (which we
used on 80 meters), a "kick butt" 40-meter dipole, and a Cushcraft A4S
tribander for 20 through 10 meters.
This was our very first
DXpedition, so we weren't really sure what to expect. For that
matter, we didn't really know what to do in Bermuda either! No
problem, Ed took us "under his wing" and made sure everything went
smoothly. Plus, he was a most gracious guide to what to do in
Bermuda and an amazing source of information! Truly a gentleman.
We operated for a little over 40 hours, with the following results:
