I have been going to Meckes Tire for a long time. I have spent thousands of dollars there, and have always told anyone that would listen, that it was the place to go for tire work. I will no longer tell people to go there. It is NOT the place to go for tire work. Here's the short story. More information can be found in the Long Story link to the left.
I took my new tires and my 2002 Mercedes Benz SLK32, to Meckes Tire to have them mount my new tires. My car has cast aluminum factory AMG wheels. They are 17" wheels, and the tires are 40 and 45 series tires. This car alway held pressure well, unlike some cheaper cast aluminum wheels I have had in the past. After my tire swap the front tires wouldn't hold pressure. When I returned to have them check for leaks, assuming I had already got a nail or something in them, we saw that the rims where cracked. Both front rims were cracked. one had 2 cracks, and the other had one.
It was obvious that the cracks were the result of negligent tire machine operation. Their stand was that I had hit big potholes. They refused to admit fault, and after much negotiation offered to pay half the cost of fixing them, if they could be fixed by Wheel Collision Center. I suggested we needed to check the rear rims also. In our last conversation the owner said that pissed her off, so she said "screw you" and wouldn't do anything for me at all.
