ambulatory            adj          healthy and capable of walking about, esp. after convalescence (related to somnambulist, funambulist, amble) Cousin Albertine, after her fall from the horse, healed nicely and is once again ambulatory after six days in bed.

capacious              adj           vast and roomy, as a room The main assembly building at Cape Canaveral is immensely capacious, capable as it is of holding the entire space shuttle on end.

countenance          n/v           1) the expression of one's face From his doleful countenance, I could tell it was bad news. 2) to permit or allow, especially by overlooking I will not countenance cheating in this school; you are expelled.

encroach               v              to intrude upon, especially to intrude upon one's space or territory The habitat of the New Zealand budger is gradually shrinking, as men encroach upon it's native habitat to build sheep ranches.

flaunt                    v               to show off openly and ostentatiously, to display something i a tasteless manner He shamelessly flaunts his intelligence by quoting Shakespeare and Milton to sixth graders; I doubt they're impressed.

flout                     v                to flagrantly disobey or disregard Alice flouted the rules of polite society by inviting a homeless man to attend the duchess's ball.

impetuous            adj             acting hastily and on sudden impulse In a wild and impetuous moment, Desiree purchased a ticket to France and flew over just for some crepes.

lascivious            adj              given to or expressing lust or sexual desires We simply will not tolerate lascivious ads for Victoria's Secret lingerie in our family newspaper.

malefactor           n                one who acts to perform evil (contrast "benefactor") I'll not have you date a hideous malefactor like him; why, he steals wheelchair brakes and sells them on the black market!

officious              adj              overly attentive or helpful, helpful in a distracting or limiting way Her officious bustling about the kitchen annoyed the chef to the point that he banned her from offering any further help.
