Hamlet Paper SELF- CHECKLIST

 

This self-checklist is to be turned in with the final draft of your Hamlet paper. You must check off each item on the list before your paper will be evaluated. Do not check off items without first checking to see if your paper has met the requirements set forth by each item. We will see that you have checked these items, and if by chance you have not addressed an item that you have checked off your grade will be affected.

 

Format:  (50 points)

_____________     Paper is typed in 12 Pt. Times New Roman or similar font

_____________    Margins - One inch on all four sides of the page. Five space or 1/2 inch           indentation for paragraphs, and ten-space or one inch indentation from left margin for block  quotes.

_____________  Spacing - Double-spaced throughout, including block quotes, notes, bibliographies,    and title

_____________    Heading/Title - Follow this format:

(Note: Your title should reflect back to your paper. Shakespeare’s Hamlet is not an apt dtle.)

_____________    Pagination - All pages numbered from page two on. Example:  "K. Smith 2" would be     located in the upper right-hand corner of the second page.

_____________    Bibliography - Follow proper MLA format. Make sure that your works are ordered    by the author’s last name and not numbered. Your bibliography is also to be                     double-spaced with hanging indents.

 

CONTENT (150 points)

 

_____________     Thesis - Thesis is clear in the first paragraph and is framed as an argument that      must be supported.

_____________    Quotations: There are at least 7 quotations from the play, and every                    quote supports an idea. The quotes are brief and targeted to the point being made; they are  not huge and bloated and intended to take up space.

____   Transitions - If one were to take your essay apart by paragraphs, anyone could      reassemble it from the transitional hints.

____  Conclusion - Your conclusion serves to wrap-up your paper, by reasserting your            initial thesis and reaffirming it based on the information found in your paper.
