We have a vocabulary quiz every Friday unless there is a previous announcement that the date has been changed or some weather emergency interferes with our schedule. The tests usually consist of the same format every week, so if you've taken one, you've got a good idea of what the others look like.

As far as studying and learning the words is concerned, I have little or no interest in you being able to memorize the definitions by rote and spout them back like parrots. An understanding of the word means being able to recognize its proper use in context and to use it correctly in a sentence. Therefore, the lists I have provided you include not only definitions but also illustrative sentences. Learning proper usage will help you immeasurably.

MAKEUP VOCAB QUIZZES: If you miss a quiz on a given Friday, it is your responsibility to make it up by writing 12 sentences--10 using the words from the missed list and 2 from some previous list(s). The words should be spelled correctly, should be clearly defined in the context of the sentence, and should be used correctly (idiomatic constructions and parts of speech). You may use my sample sentences as suggestions, but your sentences should not resemble mine in any way. I don't feel like giving you 100% for sentences that I wrote.
