I was always fond of Chevrolets. There has been
at least one Chevrolet in my driveway since 1982. I've owned 20
Chevrolets in my 25 years of driving. Eight of them were
purchased new. I even bought two new ones in one day. All that
has changed now! Chevrolet doesn't feel that brand loyalty means
anything! My case in point: I purchased a '95 Monte Carlo new, in
late '94, from Keich Motors in Hometown, Pa. On May 24, '99 with
@ 50,000 miles on it, the transmission went. It cost $2150 to
have a GM rebuilt transmission put in. I called Chevrolet
customer service and was assigned a case number. After calling
them numerous times, (they NEVER called me with information!)
they finally came to the conclusion: There was NOTHING they could
do. After all these years and cars I bought from them, there was
NOTHING they could do!
This is the LAST NEW CHEVY I'll own!
I will still own old Chevy's, but
And instead of pointing people in the direction of Chevy when
they are considering buying a new car (like I have in the past),
I will STEER THEM AWAY FROM CHEVROLET! And I will be relentless!
I already talked my Mother out of buying a Malibu. Apparently
their transmissions only last 50,000 miles! And I tell everyone
this FACT! Their cars spark plugs last longer than their
transmissions!
I have never felt so betrayed! As loyal as I've
been to them, and this is how they reward me! I have never owned
a Japanese brand car, but I am seriously considering a Toyota
Camry. Check out Consumer Reports!
UPDATE! 8/7/02 Traded in Monte Carlo in on a
SUPERIOR QUALITY 2002 Dodge Neon!
UPDATE#2: Purchased 2 Toyotas in 2008. After lobbying for American made products for decades, I realized I was getting nowhere.
