Chakra is a Sanskrit word, it literally means ‘Wheels of Light.  The first people to become aware of the Chakra system were the Ancient Egyptians, more than 45,000 years ago.  The Native Americans became aware of it about 9,000 years ago.  Every culture has some knowledge of the Chakra system, though many call it by other names. There are a total of 129 Chakra on the body, and two out side the body (both above the head).  First I’ll cover the 7 major Chakra, and then I’ll touch a little bit on the 122 ‘Secondary Chakras’, and finally, as I find more information on them,  the two outside the body.  And Since Chakra and Auras are interrelated I’ll touch a bit on those as well.

The Crown Chakra:  This is the 7^th Chakra. It’s located at the top of one's head. It governs the cerebrum, and the Pituitary gland as well as the right eye.  This is the Chakra that guides the rest, it aligns them, and balances the root Chakra, and guards against Negative forces. This Chakra is also the point where our souls (spirit, essence) merge with Divinity (a prime illustration of this are halos, or the ‘sun disk’ of Ancient Egypt) Some people who are ‘received’ or ‘seen’ through this Chakra are Prophets and Saints.  Quartz, Sodalite and Amethyst are the stones to use here, and the White color ray is associated with this Chakra.

The Third eye/ Brow Chakra: This is the 6^th Chakra. It’s found right between the eyes. It governs the face, the ears, nose, left eye, Pineal gland, nervous system and lower brain. The third Eye guides your intuition, mental energy, as well as balance and focus of all the Chakra. ESP (i.e. Clairvoyance) starts at this point.  It is said to contain our future (always changing) Some cultures believe that it’s through this Chakra that was can move on (to Heaven, or Summer, etc) only through ‘gathering light’ (enlightment) and the brighter that light, the easier it is to move on to the next realm. This is also where our dreams, hopes, and fears center.  People that are ‘received’ or ‘seen’ through the 6^th Chakra include Spiritual teachers.  Clear Quartz, Lapis Lazuli, Sapphire, and Amethyst are the crystals used here, and the Violet ray is associated with this Chakra.

The Throat Chakra: This is the 5^th Chakra. And is found over the Larynx. It governs the Entire throat and neck area, the thyroid, and the vocal and bronchial apparatus. This is the Chakra that guides your speech, and ability to communicate. It is said that this Chakra holds a perfect image of ones physical, mental, emotional, spiritual self. This perfect self is called the ‘Light Body”. It also holds our concept of truth, justice, and ‘perfection’.  People who are ‘received’ or ‘seen’ through this Chakra include Religious leaders.  Some people who are ruled by this Chakra include the Dali Lama, and the Pope.  Amethyst is the crystal used here, and the Blue color ray is associated with this Chakra.

The Heart Chakra: This is the 4^th Chakra. It is found over one's chest area.  It governs the Heart, Lungs, and the Thymus. This Chakra specializes in Emotions, especially Love Lust and Desire. This Chakra acts as a bridge between the lower Chakra (Physical, Mental and Emotional) and the higher Chakra (Spirit). Some people who are ‘received’ or ‘seen’ through this Chakra include Teachers, and Doctors.  Some people who are governed by this Chakra include Mother Teresa. Ruby is the crystal used here, and the Green Color ray is associated with this Chakra.

The Solar Plexus Chakra: This is the 3^rd Chakra. It is found over ones Solar plexus, right above the stomach, and below the breastbone. It governs the Digestive system, the Adrenals, Pancreas, liver, gall bladder, spleen and some aspects of the nervous system. This Chakra specializes in Acquired Knowledge, Physical Health, as well as Emotional upliftment. All Thoughts, Opinions, and mental processes occur through this Chakra.  People who are ‘received’ or ‘seen’ through this Chakra include Friends, Classmates, and Politicians. Carnelian & Aventurine are the crystals used here.  The yellow color ray is associated with this Chakra.

The Sex/Navel Chakra: This is the 2^nd Chakra.  It can be found in the Pelvic area, below the bellybutton. It governs the Reproductive organs, and the Lymphatic system.  This Chakra specializes in creativity and in human relations. All Emotions, I.E. (Happiness, depression, anger) occur through this Chakra. People who are ‘received’ or ‘seen’ through this Chakras include Children, and lovers.  Citrine is the crystal used here. And the Orange color ray is associated with this Chakra.

The Root Chakra:  This is the 1^st Chakra. It is found in the lower part of the body.  It governs the kidneys, the spine, and the Gonads.  It binds you to the physical world. All physical feelings originate here, which includes survival, instincts, reflexes, pleasure, pain, touch, taste, even rage. People who are ‘received’ or  ‘seen’ through this Chakra are family, and close friends.  People who are (were) ruled by this Chakra include ‘Rameses the Great’, Napoleon Bonaparte, Cesar. Onyx, and obsidian are the crystals used here, and the Red color ray is associated with this Chakra.

(By body, I mean Physical, mental, etc and by ‘contains’ I mean what human aspect is ruled by a certain Chakra.)  The first culture to give an "animal" to each Chakra was the Native Americans, the first to give an Element to each was the Ancient Egyptians.

 Ketheric literally means ‘Of the Crown’, though in this instance it means a mergence with divinity
**- Magnetum- this is an Element unknown to modern Science, though it was documented by Ancient and medieval alchemists. It has properties of magnetism, as well as others.
****-Intake/Output- Intake Chakras are ones that freely accept energy.  Output Chakras are ones that release energy.

            When a Chakra is healthy, and functioning correctly it generally appears to have a Clock wise spin (when viewed from the front of a person) and is a perfect circle.  If a Chakra has a counter-Clockwise spin, it can’t accept or process energy correctly.   If it has no spin at all, it means it’s a very weak Chakra, or there’s an energy blockage.  If a Chakra has an elliptical appearance, it generally means there’s something wrong with that Chakra’s organ (or that something related to that Chakra is wrong). One method of detecting the spin of a Chakra, would be to hold a crystal Pendulum about 6” above the Chakra, as still as possible.  The crystal will start to swing in the same direction as the Chakra.   Occasionally, Chakras can become misaligned. This can cause Headaches, or in extreme cases, high blood pressure. To fix this, sit in a chair, with your back straight, and both feet on the floor.  Have someone gently take hold of your head, and gently, slowly pull you straight up.  When we heal an Illness, which shows up in the Aura as an imbalance of a certain color, it can be treated, corrected and enhanced by projecting the complimentary color.

Each Chakra has both the primary and secondary colors in it, the main color of the Chakra is it’s primary function, however, without the other color, it cannot function correctly.  For example- In order for us to be able to do anything physical (#1, red) we must be able to breathe (#4, Green).  Or to be able to speak (#5, blue) we must have a thought, or reason to do so (#2, Orange)
