General Location: Outskirts of Norristown.
Time Frame: 1976-1978
Background: Channel 6 was a mixed group of both teenagers and adults, who somehow managed to get along, despite the often huge differences in maturity and in the typical range of interests. There were several parent/kid family teams within this group, and that may have been the glue which held the channel group together. This group formed the Montgomery County CB club, to be both a public service and a social club. I joined this group in 1976, after my former channel (10) had pretty much become vacant. The Channel 6 group did many things together as a club, including camping trips, canoe trips, bowling parties, transmitter hunts, and both Halloween and Christmas parties. This group would last until about 1978 on the radio, which pretty much coincided with the last of the teenagers graduating from high school. The club lasted until about 1980.
