The first comment out of everyone's mouth
who has seen this bowl is "Wow, thats a big bowl!". It isn't that big, only 12" in diameter
and 5" high, so I'm not sure why people think its big. Another bowl our of aspen with a little
curl on the one side. The aspen tends to be a little soft for a salad bowl but it holds up
well to washing. This one is finished with tung oil and then buffed.
Bowls of this size, that have a rim that curves back in on itself, are hard to turn because when
you rub the bevel near the top you tend to get quite a bit of chatter. Even though this bowl is
thicker I had to deal with a lot of this. Still turned out well with just a tiny bit of tear out
near the rim on the inside.
