I made the mistake of letting
my wife pick out the woods for some candlesticks I was making her for her birthday.
She went hog wild looking at catalogs and web sites. She finally settled on amboyna burl
(left), snakewood (center) and african blackwood. The candlesticks are about 1 3/4"
in diameter and range from 10" to 15" in height. They are obviously inspired by Rude
Olsnik's work. I've made other groups of these for gifts but never from woods as
expensive as these.
