Fine Woodturning by Tony Manella |
I wanted to play around with some analine dyes so I turned this little box, 2 1/2 " around by 2" high,
out of curly maple. I tried mixing two layers of dye to get the curl to show up better. Somehow I
mixed yellow and red and got pink. The curl doesn't show up either. You can see on the top of the
box that I sanded to too fine of a grit and the dye didn't take to well. For an experiment though
it didn't turn out (pun intended) too bad. The box is finished with Shellawax cream. This is the
first piece on which I've used this finish. I still need to learn how to use it better.
