Fine Woodturning by Tony Manella |
The professional turner Bob Rosand was kind enough to donate two days of lessons to our club.
We had a raffle for the three spots and I was lucky enough to be one of them. Bob demonstrated how
he makes theses boxes and then we got to try our hand. Cutting the coves so close together is
difficult and I wish I could have turned them to the point that there wasn't any flat between the
coves. I will try the technique again on something else as I do like the look. This box is
finished with two coats of tung oil finish and it measures 4 1/2" high by 2 3/4" round. The finial
made from ebony and buckeye burl.
