Fine Woodturning by Tony Manella

 

I wrote dogwood on this piece but I'm not convinced that is the wood. It has a nice pinkish hue. I had many problems with the rim of this piece cracking while it was still on the lathe. Because of this, the hole ended up much larger than I would have liked so I decided to put a contrasting rim on the piece. The bloodwood really pulls the red out of the dogwood.
