Notes

Cpl Hugh Callan (Callen) was captured and a prisoner at Libby. Hugh fought at Antietam and Chancellorsville. Born in Ireland, he never married and died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Samuel Grieff. He is buried beside his brother, Sgt. Patrick Collins (Callen) who served with the 53rd Reg't PA Vols. They are buried at Nesquehoning Sacred Heart Cemetery. Information from a great great grand nephew.

Henry Grow was born August 16, 1840 Mahoning Township, Carbon County, PA and died January 16, 1893 Lehighton, Carbon County, PA. He was the husband of  Sally Ann Cochran born June 27, 1852 and died May 25, 1922 Lehighton Carbon County, PA.  Henry was the son of Benjamin Grow and Susanna Becker. Information from a relative.

Samuel Grow was the brother of Henry Grow and a son of Benjamin Grow and Susanna Becker.  Samuel Grow was born circa 1844 in Mahoning Township, Carbon County, PA, and died December 13, 1862 in Fredericksburg of wounds received. Information from a relative.

John Kerns was born in Ireland about 1835 and died in Mauch Chunk, Carbon County PA on 8/31/1883. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. Blain born about 1845 in PA and died 4/9/1919 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill Co., PA. They are buried together in Mauch Chunk Cemetery. Information from great granddaughter.
