Augustus Mennig was born at
Pottstown PA and enlisted 8/15/1864 at the age of 20 as a private. A carpenter, he resided
at Allentown PA and later moved to Pasadena CA. Augustus' father was a minister at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church at Allentown and his daughter, Minnie, married Alfred Helfrich. He
died March 4, 1927. Information from his great-great
grandson.
