Emanuel Remandus Shelling; born 10/28/1830 at Shimersville, Northampton  County PA; married Sarah Pfaff 1/26/1855 at Easton PA; four children - Charles H., Irwin Bell, Clara, and Mrs. Frank Trexler.  He stood guard over President Abraham Lincoln's body at Independence Hall and served initially with the 1st PA Vols. A locomotive engineer for 31 years, he was the first man from Northampton County to enlist. Information from a descendant.
