Notes |
|
Sergeant Amandes A. Wagner was
actually a woman, Amanda Wagner, and wife to Samuel Wagner who served with
Company B, 153rd PA Volunteers and
Company
C, 46th PA Volunteers. This information was supplied by their great great grandson.
2nd
Lieut. Benjamin K. Sweitzer was the son of Simon Sweitzer
1800-1883, and Sarah Ann Smith 1798-1873, of Allentown, PA. Born 6/25/1838,
he died 10/10/1907 in Allentown and is buried at the cemetery at 10 & Linden
in Allentown. Benjamin married Amelia C. Buchecker, and had 3 children, Eva,
Anna and Harry. During his lifetime, Benjamin had many trades but he
was, like his older brother Thomas, a cabinet maker, a trade probably learned
from his father who was a piano manufacturer in Allentown at 926 & 930
Hamilton Street for over 20 years. Benjamin was also cousin of the two
Generals in the Civil War, Jacob Bowman Sweitzer and Nelson Bowman Sweitzer.
This information was supplied by a
cousin.
