Notes

Information on William Kissner from great-great grandson.

John Williamson; from Eckley PA; occupation mule driver; left behind a widow who later remarried and had children. Information from Williamson's widow's descendant.

Nathan Reinsmith served from 3/2/1864-6/6/1865 and was wounded at Spotsylvania. Nathan died 7/8/1934 at Mahoning Valley PA and is buried there at St. John's Cemetery. Information from his great great granddaughter.

John Boyd died of Typhoid Fever 2/6/1862 at Camp California in Alexandria VA and was buried at the National Cemetery there. Information from a cousin.

John Gormerly should actually be John Gormley. Wounded at the Battle of Fair Oaks, he died of wounds received and typhoid fever at Douglass General Hospital in Washington, D.C. on 7/9/1862.  He was buried at the Soldiers and Airman's Cemetery in Washington, D.C. the same day he died. Information from a niece.

Samuel Kuehner was added from information from his granddaughter.  He was enrolled May 3, 1864 to serve three years and discharged June 29, 1865 near Washington, D. C. by special order.  The paper is signed by  First Lieutenant John Graham, Commanding the Company.  Samuel later lived in Penn Township, Carbon County then in Eldred Township, Monroe County , where he farmed. He married twice and had 21 children and is buried in Trachsville Cemetery, Carbon Co.

William Watters was added at the request of a possible descendant. He was born in 1825 and died in 1900. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery at Jim Thorpe PA where his tombstone states he served with Co I of the 81st.

Ammon Hontz and Moses Hontz were born in Carbon County, sons of Jonas and Sarah (Reinschmidt) Hontz. They enlisted together on 9/5/1861 in Co G, 81st PA Vols. The 81st PA participated in a number of engagements including the Battle of Antietam. On 5/12/1864, Ammon Hontz was wounded at the Battle of Spottsylvania Court House.  On 12/13/1862, Moses Hontz was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg. Both brothers were discharged with the rank of Private 9/15/1864. Ammon died at Mahoning Township, Carbon County on 3/20/1913 and Moses died at Weissport on 7/11/1907. Both are buried at St. John's Cemetery in Mahoning Township. Information from Moses' great granddaughter.
