Notes
Isaac Shimer survived the Battle of Long Island but was captured at Fort Washington. It is said he was confined on an island but escaped by swimming although he was shot at while in the water. He died at the age of 88 and is buried at the Old Williams Church in Northampton County, Pennsylvania.  Isaac was married to a Miss Gettart who died without issue and then to Elizabeth Kichline. Isaac's brothers:  Abraham, the oldest, was a Captain in the 3rd Battalion New Jersey Militia in the Army of the Revolution; Anthony, second son, was a Captain of the 6th Battalion under Col. Jacob Stroud, 1777; Jacob Shimer, enlisted as a soldier under Captain Jacob Arndt, receiving as pay for his services 13 pounds, 6 shillings during the Indian Massacre of 1755-56; and Edward was a member of the "Committee on Safety" of Northampton County, and Captain in the first Battalion from Northampton County under Col. Geo. Hubner. He was crippled from vigorously ice skating as a young man and walked with a cane all his life. Information from a great+ niece.

John Bush Sr. was captured at the Battle of Fort Washington, released and died the following year of wounds sustained from terrible prison conditions. His son, Henry Bush Sr., was captured at the Battle of Long Island and held on the British warships Rockford and Snow Mentor in the New York harbor for 5 months. Henry's son, John C. Bush, married Jacob Arndt's daughter, Hannah, in 1813. Their great+ granddaughter would like to hear from anyone else researching these men.

Corporal Elijah Crawford survived the war in "Captain John Arndt's Company of Colonel Baxter's Battalion of Northampton County in the State of Pennsylvania Flying Camp'. He was named executor to his parents' wills when both died in May 1778 at Bethel Township, Northampton County. Eventually Elijah moved to western Pennsylvania and raised a family many of whom migrated westward to Illinois, etc. His descendant would like to hear from anyone interested in this Northampton County Crawford family.
