DECEMBER 30, 2002
Meeting Minutes
In attendance were: Larry Levy, Frank Selgrath, Peg Grigalonis, Sue Zimmerman, Kathy Wufsus, Travis Kromer, Ray Eichman, Bill Gill, Charles Savage, Leslie and Bob Richardson.
The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. In Lorrie’s absence the minutes were read. Larry read the minutes from both October and November, both were accepted as read.
Secretary Report – Teresa reported
on a phone call she received form someone attending the Christmas tour
and really enjoyed it. She also read cards and correspondence received.
Teresa received a thank you for participating the "Dressing of the Evergreens"
this year form the Lambda Nu Sorority.
The treasurer books were audited by Lorrie
and turned over to Peg. Peg requested a copy of the audit report.
No treasurer report – accepted by Leslie and 2nd by Charles that no report was read.
Membership – Teresa noted the list was updated. Cards will be mailed out when dues are paid.
Fundraising – Larry suggested a calendar with community pictures for year 2004, to be available in September 2003. We decided to table it for now until we see Frackville’s calendar and look at a choice of pictures. Also, look into info for Christmas ornaments, afghans, etc.
It was requested that an agreement be signed to have the Mahanoy Twp. Alumni Pictures displayed in the Visitor Center. Also, the Mahanoy Township Alumni Association will donate a display case.
Property & Artifacts – no report – Rose was absent.
Public Relations – Lorrie is looking into programs from the PA Humanities.
Xmas Tour – Peg reported it went well. Frank reported on the Visitor Center. They have a new manager, Ann Uzupis. Larry suggested that we need a key to the museum part.
Church Tour – Kathy reported it was a low turn out. We need suggestions for next year or turn it over to the Ministerium.
Other business – Sue reported that the Coalition Meeting will be held on January 8 at 7 PM at the Minersville Train Station. The History Fair will be held February 8 at the Fairlane Mall from 10-5 PM. They need volunteers to work.
A brief discussion ensued regarding the
liability insurance with Seltzer. The group needs more information.
Teresa requested money for stamps.
It was announced that Rose Flamini will be named Citizen of the Year of
the Elks on January 25. Teresa made a motion, 2nd by Frank to purchase
a plaque not to exceed $50. All in favor.
Membership – Kathy suggested we advertise the meetings in the papers. We should also have general "get together socials" to discuss historical items.
A motion was made by Frank Selgrath, seconded by Peg Grigalonis to adjourn.
Note – a donation was received from Margaret Haehnlen for $50 to the Society and $10 donation from George Krall.
