Youth Quake 2004

By Lily Sears

Friends, family, late nights, laughter, music, worship; what do all of these words have in common?  They all describe the amazing weekend in Harrisburg.

On January 17, 2004, two cars took ten youth from Bergstrasse Church to the   ‘always-a-good time ‘ Youthquake.  Upon our arrival, we excitedly grabbed the keys to our rooms and then waved to two of our own familiar faces from Bergstrasse, Lee Anne and Andy Hagy were staff for the Youthquake event. We then pressed the elevator button ten times to get to the highest floor, eight.

The itinerary, which consisted of three treks on Saturday, the inspiring speaker, Bill Yonker, the talented musicians, Captive Free and Echelon, and the “always famous” lunch break, only increased the excitement of the youth.

Some of the youth even had enough courage to perform skits, read passages, and lead prayers in front of the unusually large crowd of people.

At the end of the weekend, those new to the experience had a look of satisfaction upon their faces.  For those who had returned for yet another year, thought it the best Quake ever!

Hopefully, the tradition of Youthquake will continue and give the Bergstrasse youth an experience they’ll always remember.
