OLD TIME MUSIC FESTIVAL AND FIDDLE CONTEST 

       

The Eckley Miners’ Village Associates will be hosting an historical recreation of an old fashion music festival and fiddle contest on Sunday July 20 from noon to five. A variety of music will be performed throughout the day on two stages including Celtic, traditional, folk, country, and bluegrass. Musical performers include The Mud Pond Boys, Lefty Jones & Friends Jug Band, Paul Riffon, the Breaker Boys, the Lowlander Highlanders, and others. Additional entertainment will include clogging demonstrations, an open microphone stage, and more…

Any and all musicians are encouraged to come out and bring their instruments and play with other musicians who have similar interests in old time music. Other instruments and styles are encouraged and will be performed.

The fiddle contest will be open to musicians of all ages and all levels of experience. There will be three contest categories: 12 & under, 13-18, 19 and over. Awards will be given to the top three contestants and advanced registration is suggested.

     The festival will also have impromptu performances, jam sessions, and musical workshops. Eckley’s historic houses will be open, along with sewing and quilting workshops, great food, wagon rides, and more. Admission will be charged to attend the festival; registration for the fiddle contest is free.

Eckley Miners’ Village is operated by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in co-operation with the Eckley Miners’ Village Associates.
