As early as 1807, one Gideon Draper was preaching in Paupack in the house of Squire Chapman. For decades Paupack was a regular preaching stop on the circuit. In 1905 the cornerstone was laid for a regular house of worship, and the first church building in Paupack was dedicated in 1906.A fire damaged a portion of the building in 1936, which was quickly repaired by volunteers. In 1955 the entire building was remodeled and expanded, and in 1965 improvements were made in the basement to accommodate the growing Sunday School classes.
In 1987 it was decided to examine the possibility of expanding Paupack Church facilities to meet the needs of our growing local community. During the following months a feasibility study was made, architect's plans developed, and a successful pledge campaign was conducted.
The required demolition work began July 12, 1990, followed by months of construction activity, involving more than 10,000 volunteer hours. The building project was completed on July 7, 1991, and our beautiful new church in which we worship together today was consecrated on July 14, 1991.
The Paupack Church has developed sacred music to a high level. Malmark Handbells were acquired in 1988. In 1999, a new Allen "protege" organ with MDS Expander and MIDI division , Dedicated to the Glory of God in Memory of Margaret and Edward Kirby, and in Honor of Janice Madole, first service organist-choir director, was installed in the church. Mrs. Janice Madole directs the Chancel Choir and provides keyboard leadership for congregation singing each Sunday morning at the 9:00 service. Occasional performances by the Handbell Choir or Children's Choirs supplement the music ministry. Thursday Night Singers provide music for the 11:00 worship service each Sunday.
