| Back in 1997, Marylou Ambrose and Tony Schwartz decided to write a who-done-it mystery about a traveling salvation show. They gathered some folks from the congregation to act in it, and one Friday, a covered dish dinner/mystery theater night was held at the Paupack Church. It was a fun night when Rev. Jimmy Brimstone and his wife, Bambifaye, along with all the characters from the "Great Balls of Fire Traveling Salvation Show" came to town. Everyone had a blast and that show went on to be performed again at Hemlock Grove UMC, Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Hawley, and as a fundraiser for the Hawley Rotary Club, performed at the Settlers Inn. |

Several things developed from that first show. Tony and Marylou went on to write many more mysteries and started a new community theater company in the area, The Lakeside Players, performing in many of the area's restaurants. Many of the original cast from our congregation went on to act in many of those dinner theater shows. And the Paupack Players, originally created for a one night event, went on to develop into the drama team for the contemporary worship service here at Paupack UMC. Over the past few years, dozens of folks from our congregation have appeared on Sunday mornings in a Paupack Players skit. It's amazing how God can take one event and blossom it into so many things. Involving so many people. And you can be a part of it too! |

| "Okay people, listen up! Now, I know you're probably wondering if you have to memorize anything. No! All our skits are performed in the style of reader's theater. You read right from the script. You're probably wondering how much rehearal time is needed. Almost none! Many of our skits are briefly rehearsed just before the church service. Some of the more elaborate skits are rehearsed on Saturday morning. But even those rehearsals are less than an hour long. There's little time involved when performing in one of our skits. Just about all our skits are comedies and are a great deal of fun. So, what are you waiting for? Contact us and be a part of the fun! How do you contact us? Keep reading!" |
