               When Vernon Payne was six or eight Granddad Mark used to take him on 2 to 3 week political trips around the state for the Democratic Party. ( Toliver Meadors)

               Vernon soon realized he was taken on these trips to work. One of his chores was to take the boards that were tied to the fenders off and lay them over wet areas to alow the car to pass. ( Fara (Payne) Zaleski).

               This is a quick rambling of Grandmother Booths (Ba's mother Boo) journal . I truly wish you could see it for yourself. It has a variety of things in it besides her daily thoughts and happenings.

               “….1923 Jan 1st The year has gone we have many blessings to be thankful for. Praise the Lord for them. Today is beautiful and everyone is well and happy. …the children had a beautiful tree and lovely presents. Will sent me five dollars. Mark and Marion each a dollar Mamie a box of chocolate cherries Mildred a box of stationary Annie a box of candy. The little ones a present each……Jan 2 Vernon gave Mildred a wrist watch. We are trying to get Annies cloths ready for her wedding on the 20th of Jan…….etc. on and on about tatting or quilting ; the days events. The children came and went …

               April 1924 a letter from Wilmark hes at Wills in Aberdeen said he is going to Memphis…March 1925 Mamies anniversary 31 years Sam left for Jasper and Vernon Cargile left for St Petersberg.

               Someone stoled 7 of Mamies chickens……April 26, Friday Marion and Myrtle had a baby girl at Hubbard hospital. Mrs Wilkins and Kathleen came and went to see them at the hospital

some of it written in 1902. There’s a card with a 1902 calendar, a newspaperclipping of Uncle Buck when he was 3. Dates I found on a MLP paper Annie 1895..Henry Curtis 1898..
