Tuckers listed in 1820 Rand. Co., census: Mathaniel (brother of William -58), Thomas (son of George - 107), Amos (son of Thomas), George (probably son of William - 58), Benjamin and Jessie (sons of William -58), Solomon (g.son of Nathaniel & Patsy Tucker), and James (perhaps g.son of Robert 01675). Enoch William (sons of William -58) were in Lawrence Co., TN by 1820.

William married Matilda (Coats ?), daughter of Unknown and Unknown, about 1772.

Children from this marriage were:
                M i. John Tucker was born on 6 May 1773 in , , NC1

.                 General Notes:The 1850 Census of Sumner County, TN., lists a JOHN TUCKER 78, Jesse 42, Nancy 46 NC,T (751-362). Also, DORCAN TUCKER 43, Elizabeth 20, John L. 22, Caroline 14 NC,T (759-363). Proof of identity is needed but is seems likely this John Tucker is the eldest of William and Matilda's children. Further research may identify Dorcan Tucker as a son of this John Tucker. We may also find that the younger JOHN TUCKER 55, Elizabeth 40, Richard 28, Sarah A. 24, Lewis 19, James 17, Bird 14,Catherine 12, Martha F. 7, John 3 NC NC (1007-396) was a son of the elder John Tucker of Sumner County.

John's name wasn't found on the tax list of 1815 for Randolph Co., NC. His signature didn't appear on documents settling his father's estate (25 Feb, 1814). Elma Hooker found him mentioned in estate papers up to 1817. Since John seemed to vanish at this point it's been thought he died young... it seemed more likely we'd eventually find him in another state. His whereabouts were established from the last line of the first page of William's indenture dated, 25 Aug., 1813, which lists where Matilda and the children were living at the time....where it says "John Tucker of SUMNER COUNTY, TENNESSEE" (reference discoverd by Harold and Virginia Tucker)

.                 [Randolph Co. records suggest George was still living there in 1830. Pinkney Carl Tucker, who appears to be the eldest g.child was born about 1832 in McNairy Co., TN. As there is no mention of land in his estate inventory it seems likely he'd sold out in NC and had yet to locate land in TN when he died. There is record of a family cemetery on the land of William Tucker, his brother, could be he was buried at that location.]
