The Florida High Tech Corridor Council is a partnership
between the University of Central Florida, the University
of South Florida and area businesses to attract, retain,
and grow high-technology industry in Florida.
An internationally-competitive US electronics industry
requires a well-prepared workforce. Many community colleges
and universities along the Central Florida "Interstate-4
corridor" (Tampa-Orlando-Daytona) are working with industry
to offer programming in the engineering technology/electronics
field. Rapidly-evolving industry demands and increasingly-limited
resources have led to the establishment of an education-business
alliance known as the Tech-4
High-Technology Industrial Education Consortium.
Cirent Semiconductor supports a strong community by supporting
the Heart of Florida United Way . Through a grant from
the Lucent
Technologies Foundation and contributions from our
employees, we raised nearly $350,000 in 2000 for health
and human services programs in our community. Cirent Semiconductor
and Lucent Technologies are proud to support the United
Way.
Cirent Semiconductor, through its targeted charitable
contributions program, supports science and math education
and the development of a diverse workforce in Central
Florida by supporting programs within organizations such
