Q: Ok.... Ceart, obviously not your real name, right? So who are you, really? A: Just like that huh? No lead up questions, just right to the point. Ok, fine. in real life I'm Shawn Eric O'Brian, on the web I'm Ceart. Q: So what does it mean? CE Art? You supposed to be some kind of artist or something? A: Short version: Ceart is the Celtic word for correct, right, just. A: Long version: When I started using computers and logged on to BBS's I wanted a name that sounded cool. I chose Nemesis (a character from a cartoon show I watched, plus it seemed like a cool name). I like the name and kept it for about 10 years as BBS's grew up and evolved. As they were replaced by the internet I found that there were way too many people using it as their name and it would almost always be used when I tried to select usernames for sites. Earlier this year (1999) I started looking for a new name, but couldn't come up with anything right away. At the time I had just started digging deeper into my Celtic heritage and the idea of using a Celtic name came to me. I decided to try and keep the meaning of the word as close to that of Nemesis as I could (I still like the name Nemesis, it's just too common). Well, in mythology, Nemesis is the Goddess of justice so I started looking for Celtic words relating to justice and eventually came upon ceart. Q: What do you do for a living? A: I work for ProLog/PenTeleData an ISP in eastern PA as a network analyst. Basically I sit in front of a PC and monitor the network, working with telcos, our partners, and our field techs to resolve problems with T1's, dial-ups, ATM, etc. Yeah, the company wouldn't survive a week without me. Q: Do you like the job? A: Depends on the day you ask me. Overall, yes. Some days I wish I could just get a job flipping burgers or something. Right about now I'm leaning toward getting that job flipping burgers more heavily than usual. Q: What do you do in your spare time? A: Biking, hiking, reading, listening to music, going to concerts, going to the movies, playing mini-golf, going to clubs, hanging out with my friends, playing racquetball, spending time at home with my fiance. Q: What is your favorite color? A: Purple, like you couldn't guess (sidebar, duh). Q: What kind of books do you read? A: Mostly science-fiction. Isaac Asimov is my favorite author. Other good reads are Douglas Adams and Stephen King. Oddly enough, my favorite novel is by none of them though. My all time favorite novel is Illuminatus! by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea. Right now I'm reading an alternate history short story compilation. Q: OK, and what about music? A: Rock! Just about any rock from Beatles to Led Zep to Rob Zombie. Some of my favorites: KISS, Motley Crue, Megadeth, Queensryche, Rob Zombie, Extreme, Nuno Bettencourt, Mourning Widows, Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Smashmouth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz. Q: Do you smoke? A: No. I did on and off through high school and college. But I haven't in years and probably won't again. Q: Do you drink? A: Yes, but rarely to the point of getting drunk. Not much beer, can't really stand the taste. Might have a beer or two at a club or bar, but even there I'll more likely have a Mike's Hard Lemonade. At home, I have a well stocked bar (about 40 varieties of alcohol) that I'll break out and experiment making mixed drinks with about once a month, when friends are over. Q: What's on TV? A: Presently: Farscape, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Trading Spaces, The Simpsons, That 70's Show, Smallville, 24. Past Faves: X-Files, Dark Angel, Hercules, Star Trek: DS9, Family Guy, Babylon 5. Q: What movies could you see over and over? A: The Matrix, Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail, 2001/2010, Star Wars: A New Hope. LAST UPDATED 1-31-2003 ![]() Head back home! |
