Joyous Noise Offering

Through the efforts of our children, a “Joyous Noise” Offering is received once a month.  The Sunday School children get together to decide on the recipient of the benevolent gifts.  On the second Sunday of every month, our young children become “Angel Ushers” by passing metal buckets to receive the special offering.  The congregation empties the change in their pockets and purses, drops it into the bucket and makes a “loud noise.”  This loud noise becomes a our “Joyous Noise” through everyone’s generosity.

The Joyous Noise Offering was set up and approved by the Church Board to be a mission project for the children of St. Peter’s Church. It was designed to teach our youth to care for others less fortunate and to show them that they can make a difference.

The goal and guidelines that were put in place to determine where this offering may be directed are as follows:

Goal: To give aid and offer funds to those people financially less fortunate.

It is preferred that these funds be designated to well-established, non-profit organizations rather than to an “individual” except in the case of loss due to natural disasters, severe health problems, etc.

ALWAYS, financial need should be considered and not just the unfortunate incident or situation.

MUST ALWAYS ASK, “Is there a dire financial hardship for the basic needs:  food, clothing, shelter, medical attention?”

The Joyous Noise Committee shall thoroughly review all suggestions before being presented to the children for a vote.

Organizations are desired with low overhead and administrative costs; where the bulk of the funding goes directly into their programs and the people they help.

The goal and guidelines of the Joyous Noise offering uphold the mission of the Church so that the name of Christ is lifted up through our outreach and giving.
