In A Square Dance World You Will Find : FRIENDSHIP  SOCIALITY WHOLESOMENESS  A FEELING OF HERITAGE  AN INNER SENSE OF WORTH  PHYSICAL EXERCISE MOVEMENT TO THE MUSIC   FUN ~ Just Like Children have It would be wonderful to find YJU in the Square Dancing square! Each new vocabulary word is a "Square Dance Call" (movement) and when you learn approximately 69 new words you have become a Mainstream Square Dancer. If you desire, you may learn approximately 27 more words (calls) and you now are a Plus Square Dancer. Mainstream Clubs are found throughout the USA as well Plus Clubs. Many Plus Clubs alternate between Mainstream Tips and Plus Tips. A "Tip" being one set of dances made up of two individual songs or patterns. If you become a Plus Dancer you certainly can dance at Mainstream Clubs as well as Plus Clubs since you will know how to dance to all the calls which will be called. I bet you learned a lot more than 100 vocabulary words each year you were in school. Most square dance instruction dances run 2 hours a week for approximately 30 weeks and you are then to enter the dancing world. Before the completion of the 30 weeks there are plenty of "student dances" around which only call at the current student level. Usually 10 sessions and you can dance basic dances anywhere. (Also, most students are learning the same calls at the same time nationwide....so all learners are usually always at the same level.) And Did You Know ~ That no matter where you go the World Over ~ All Square Dancing is called in English. Therefore, you can square dance in foreign countries without speaking the foreign language. (Like me, for instance.) We all can't be Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall and we all certainly can't become the next Fred Astaire or Ginger Rogers. Those people really had talent and dancing was their chosen career. But for anyone who likes music, learning to dance to the music enhances the enjoyment ~ because we then become one with the music. Square Dancers are just Ordinary People throughout the world who just happen to have this wonderful bond through square dancing.
