CONGRATULATIONS TO KERRY SMITH, JUNIOR TEAM USA 2008!
Hello to you.
Since 1990, I have participated in, been part of or in charge of numerous leagues and tournaments throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Indiana, Florida and (coming soon) Michigan. I've enjoyed great success and all the fun times. Most gratifying has been awarding over $104,000 in scholarships to bowlers in 269 events.
While this has been a labor of love, the amount of time the labor takes is growing. The amount of time I have to devote to it is lessening. I accepted a promotion at work, and while this means a better salary, it also means a lot more time at work. Whatever free time is left for me is earmarked for my two leagues, and my PJBT work... not to mention time with my wonderful, forgiving family.
Once this schedule is done, there will 14 Classic Series-only events. The 10 PJBT majors, 2 of which are certified through the Classic Series, will also count toward Classic Series participation. That 14 will be cut further next year, due to Mifflinburg closing.
Money has never been an issue. The nice return that SMART gave us this year will keep me out of the red. Time, energy, and family are. It shows with every gray hair growing out of me. I need to spend some more time with my family before it's too late to drive less than an hour to see how my cousins are doing.
I apologize ahead of time for not being able to provide the amount of tournaments I usually do. There will be some areas slighted by my decision, and some bowlers who won't be tempted to travel so far for PJBT's every weekend. I can't use the term "all good things must come to an end," because this isn't the end. It's just a different way of doing things. You may not agree with it, but at least you know where I'm coming from. Things at work have been quite hectic... and my second job keeps me busy on Saturdays, and probably a few more days a week come wintertime and baseball season.
Thank you for your understanding. See you at the lanes.
