The Photo on the left shows my Elecraft K1 set up in a patio room. The K1 draws 55 ma on receive and 900 ma on transmit. The K1 is being powered by the 12V 7.0 AH Gel-Cel battery seen to the right of the lap top computer.  To the right of the battery is always kept topped up with the 10 watt solar panel seen in the second photo.. The unit to the right of the battery is a solar charge controller described in October 2001 QST Magazine.
             This is the system I use year round using either the Elecraft K1 or the K2. There fore I operated class 1E. Home station on emergency power.
